PENALTY LENGTHS

MAJOR              Penalty Shot awarded.  (possible game misconduct)  

MINOR              1 minute in length or until scored upon 


MAJOR PENALTIES & MISCONDUCTS  

Fighting - Any attempt to throw a punch towards another player with the intent to harm will be deemed fighting and will result in a major penalty with a game ejection.  

Slash with intent to injure - Any slash which is deemed harmful or excessive with the intent to harm will be a major penalty with a game ejection. 

Unsportsmanlike Conduct (Verbal Assault) - Verbally assaulting a referee will result in a major penalty and possible game ejection. 


MINOR PENALTIES  

Slashing - Slashing is the act of swinging a stick towards an opponent whether contact is made or not. Non-aggressive stick contact will not be called. Any forceful or powerful chop with the stick on an opponent’s body, stick or near the hands that is not an attempt to play the ball will be called minor penalty 

High Sticking - The act of a player trying to make contact with another player or the ball above the players chest. Two high sticking calls will result in a minor penalty.  

High Sticking (contact) - Contact with a player will result in an immediate minor penalty. 

Tripping - Two tripping calls will result in a minor penalty 

CHANGE OF POSSESSION  

Occupying Goalies Crease - Players cannot occupy the designated crease for more than 3 seconds during play when the ball is not in play in the crease. 

Diving forward/ sliding block – Any player who attempts to make a slide block or diving to make a stop. 

High Sticking - High sticking without contact to a player will result in a change of possession. If contact with a player is made, a minor penalty will be assessed.  

Tripping - Tripping an opponent will result in a change of possession.  

Excessive rough play near corners and walls will result in a change of possession in favor of the individual deemed by the referees, this is to ensure the safety of both players and not to escalate. 

Out of Bounds – balls hitting the roof, basketball nets or out of bounds will be deemed out of bounds and will result in a change of possession. 

 


PLAYOFF TIMING (Best of 3 Series) 

Games that go into overtime will be played under sudden death with a 6-minute period being added on as per time remaining.  (1 additional timeout will be given to each team for OT) 

Game 3 of a series is played as “Time remaining” and will not be played the following week.
